A French Affair

A few weeks ago we finally visited L’atelier for our post-Sunday run breakfast. We had been trying to visit this beautiful spot for weeks, but it hadn’t been open on Sunday mornings due to limited COVID operating hours.

What a treat and worth repeating. The restaurant is located in the Keys Art Mile building in Rosebank and is beautifully decorated in pastel pink and cream colours. The table decor was propagated plants and the whole place was just dreamy. Fitting, since l’atelier means an artist’s or designer’s studio or workroom, and at L’atelier they are artists with food.

But on to the good stuff, the food.

I honestly think their croissant was the best I’ve ever had. Served with jam, cheese, and cream, it wasn’t just the consistency and flavours, it was the presentation and the ambiance. Definitely worth repeating.

At R55 for the Croissant served with jam, cheese, and butter, it’s not cheap, but actually more reasonable than many places we’ve visited recently. And the rating? For me, L’atelier’s plain croissant gets a solid 95%. Well done!
